Lately some people have been complaining that there are no new MMORPG games. Well, actually it is still barely 2012 so there have not yet been many new releases. However, there are some good upcoming MMORPG games due to be released in 2012 that you may find interesting. Here is a list of the best upcoming MMORPG games 2012.

Upcoming MMORPG Games 2012 – Free to Play
Eligium – a high-quality upcoming MMORPG that is free to play. Beta signups are available from the website.
Firefall – a team-based action MMOFPS
Marvel Universe Online – actually there is no confirmed release date for this upcoming MMO game but it could possibly be 2012
Neverwinter – another upcoming MMORPG, this one also has a related Facebook game Heroes of Neverwinter that has been released
Path of Exile – currently under development by Grinding Gear Games in New Zealand
Planetside 2 – a massively multiplayer online first person shooter that will offer massive combat on an epic scale
Sevencore – this is an upcoming free riding action MMORPG that will feature land, sea and air mounted combat via dragons, motorbikes, etc.
Torchlight – I can’t seem to find the website link for this
Transformers Universe – not much is known about this game yet except that it will be based on the popular Transformers giant robot franchise
Wizardry Online – this looks like it is going to be an epic, old school online RPG type of game
Upcoming MMORPG Games 2012 – Subscription or Pay to Play
ArcheAge – it’s in closed beta in Korea but there has been no official word on when the English version will be released although that will probably be after its commercial release in its country of origin
Blade and Soul – one of the hottest, most anticipated MMORPG games of 2012, Blade and Soul is currently in closed beta in Korea
TERA – pre-orders are now available through the website. TERA features what the developers call “True Action Combat” that is beyond mere point and click. In TERA, skills, position, timing, and aim determine success in combat.
Upcoming MMORPG Games 2012 – No Membership Fees
Guild Wars 2 – this is in development by ArenaNet, the makers of the first Guild Wars game. Guild Wars 2 is expected to have no monthly membership fees but the game itself is not free to download – players will need to buy the game and they can then play it as much as they like online without having to pay a recurring subscription fee.
